What are the X-treme Fans Board of Directors and how can I apply?
The X-treme Fans Board of Directors are a group of 15 students that work together to create and promote special events and giveaways with the help of the Xavier Athletic Department. The Board is split into two teams. The digital team that works to run social media accounts, apps, club websites, and overall club communications. In addition, the events team exists to help plan events such as student trips and various logistical tasks across campus.
Students can apply for the Board of Directors at the start of every school year by visiting http://www.x-tremefans.com and filling out the application found on the website.
Who can apply?
All Xavier students can apply! From incoming first-year students to upcoming seniors, we encourage anyone who enjoys Xavier Athletics and getting Xavier students engaged at sporting events to apply for the Board of Directors.
How can I be apart of X-treme Fans if I am not on the Board of Directors?
First, you can join the X-treme Fans Club Membership! Pay $10 for the whole year and take part in exclusive member giveaways and meals. For example, last year we had a members-only breakfast from First Watch. In addition, each month, members have the opportunity to take part in an open meeting where they can express their opinions on how they think the club and Board are doing.
Second, if you don’t want to be in the club, come to events! Support all on-campus events Admission is free throughout the year. Come early, follow along on social media, and enjoy all that X-treme Fans has to offer!
What is X Pulse?
X-Pulse is our app which serves many different purposes throughout the year. Students can download the free app, create an account with their Xavier email and log in . Students can “check in” to all Xavier athletics games, accumulate “X-Pulse points” and use those points to claim prizes during the year. Students in top 500 on X Pulse will also receive priority access to ticket pickup for a Men’s Basketball game during the year.
How do I get tickets for on campus games? Are they free?
All students have access to free tickets to Xavier Athletic events. To games such as Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Volleyball, Women’s Basketball, and Baseball games, students can enter free with their All Card. Doors open 60 minutes before the game begins.
For Xavier Men’s Basketball games, students must claim free tickets online. On Monday’s at 3:00 pm during basketball season, students can enter the Xavier Athletics ticketing link and claim one free student ticket. Tickets are on a first come first serve basis and not every student is guaranteed a free ticket.
For example, for the Men’s Basketball game on Friday, November 8, the ticket window will open on Monday, November 4 at 3:00 pm and close 48 hours later. Students will receive an email from the ticket office on the morning of Monday, November 4.
What is the Campout?
The Campout is one of the largest, student-run events during the academic year. The Board of Directors, in conjunction with XUPD, Xavier Athletics, and the Office of Student Involvement, will select one Men’s Basketball game during the season for the Campout to take place. Information regarding registration and other specific details will be released via our social media channels and website closer to the Campout date.
In previous years, the Campout has seen as much as 140+ tents participate, beginning at the student entrance of the Cintas Center and wrapping around Cintas Center towards the outdoor basketball courts behind Buenger Hall.
How can I go to New York for the Big East?
As second semester approaches, the Board of Directors will announce official details regarding the Spring Break trip to New York City for the Big East Men’s Basketball tournament. Students will leave campus on the Tuesday of the week of Spring Break and return to campus on the Saturday/ Sunday on the tail end of the week.
Games will take place at Madison Square Garden and students are guaranteed a ticket to every session that Xavier plays in. More information regarding trip logistics and operations will be released at a later date.
What is the time commitment when apart of the X-treme Fans Board of Directors?
The Board of Directors time commitment varies on a week-to-week basis. Board of Director members are required to attend weekly meetings that are closed to the public. In addition, Board of Director members are required to be present at all Xavier Athletic events to help run various aspects such as promoting and participating in student giveaways, sell concessions at outdoor events, and promote student engagement. Board of Director members also put in time outside of weekly meetings to ensure that different tasks and expectations of the Board are met, in addition to collaborating with different offices and clubs across campus.
